A game turn (Also called a "Hand") of Texas Hold'em follows this sequence:
- Blinds: The two players to the left of the dealer (The player with the "Dealer Button") pay forced bets, called small and big blinds. The small blind is usually half the big blind.
- Pre-Flop: The cards are dealt face down to every player, starting clockwise from the player on the dealer's left hand side.
- First Betting Round: Players begin by placing their bets, by calling or raising this big blind, or by folding.
- The Flop: Three board cards are dealt face-up.
- Second Betting Round:
- The Turn: A fourth board card is dealt face-up.
- Third Betting Round:
- The River: A fifth (and last) board card is dealt face-up.
- Last Betting Round:
- Showdown: If a bet has been called, all remaining players go into showdown, in which the player with the best hand wins the pot.
- The Dealer Button: Passes to the next player, in a clockwise order.
