The Lord of the Rings: Middle-earth Defense is a new Java game with Tower Defense-style gameplay. Darkness has fallen upon the kingdoms of Middle-earth. After a time of peace, the evil Dark Lord of Mordor, Sauron, has returned for the Ring. To prevent Sauron from once again plunging Middle-earth into chaos, the young Hobbit Frodo Baggins has accepted the burden of returning the Ring to the fiery caverns of Mount Doom. Only there, at the place of its dreaded birth, may the Ring be destroyed and Middle-earth finally set free of Sauron's evil.

Position your Heroes - Aragorn, Gandalf, Legolas and more - and deploy ally units such as Elven Archers or Hobbits to defend strongholds from relentless waves of attacking enemy forces.
There are 2 Gameplay Story modes: Story and Challenge
- Story Mode: There are total of 18 levels set in 7 environments
- Challenge Mode: Cycle through 7 environments, defending against wave after wave of attackers, until all your Battle Hit Points have been exhausted
